This article is for Flatfile's Workspaces product. If you'd like to check out the latest version of the Flatfile Data Exchange Platform, click here!

A Flatfile Workspace is a central hub for interacting with the data your users upload. In a Workspace, you can invite customer collaborators, upload data, view uploaded files, and review any attached data templates.

Since you can create multiple Workspaces for multiple reasons, you can think of a Workspace as different co-working spaces you can invite different collaborators to. For instance, if you need onboarding data from High Brow Coffee Roasters, Inc, you can create a Workspace for just their data, and keep it separate from the onboarding data from Mom & Pop’s Multinational Packers and Shippers Company.

Since multiple types of data may need to be uploaded and verified in each Workspace, you can attach multiple data templates to a Workspace. We recommend creating a data template before you create a Workspace (new Workspaces require a template), but if you need to, you can add additional data templates to Workspaces after they have been created.

If multiple templates are assigned to a Workspace, you may run into an issue where removing one template removes multiple templates. This is most likely because these templates are linked through our relational data feature. The relational data feature is currently experimental, and not all Workspaces will have access to it.
