At Flatfile, we often use the word record to refer to a discrete chunk of data within a batch. Records can be accessed by Data Hooks, and can even be assigned statuses that can be tracked.
More precisely, a record is a collection of fields, and the word record typically corresponds to rows in a spreadsheet. For example, if you had a list of employees, labeled “Employees,” and information such as those employees’ names, employee IDs, phone numbers, and other information, “Employees” would be your record, while the Name, ID, and Phone Number information would be a field.
