This article is for Flatfile's Portal 2.0. If you'd like to check out the latest version of the Flatfile Data Exchange Platform, click here!

Yes! While encoding is typically set by the user uploading data, it is possible to use the Portal config file to manually set the encoding of Portal 2.0 uploads. This can be done by adding `encoding: ` to the config file, and then adding the encoding you would like to use. If you want all your uploads encoded in UTF-8, for example, you would add `encoding: UTF-8` to the config file.

You can see the available encodings in the drop-down menu in the header selection stage.

Though this is the solution for now, we are currently working on improvements to the way that Portal 2.0 interprets the encoding of uploaded files.

Portal 3.0 and Workspaces will automatically detect the encoding type being used, and there is not a way to manually specify an encoding type.
