A data template is how you tell Flatfile what you expect your data to look like. Creating a template sets how you expect your data to be shaped, so when data is uploaded, Flatfile has something to check and validate the incoming data against.
Your data template should represent the ideal of what you want your data to be. When creating a template, ask yourself “How do I want this data to look when it comes out of Flatfile?” Think of it as setting a standard for data validation and standardization.
Data templates are associated with specific Workspaces, and a single data template can be assigned to multiple workspaces if you want your data from multiple sources to come to you in the same format.
Data templates are also closely associated with Data Hooks®. Data Hooks are assigned to templates, and act on any data uploaded to the template they are associated with.
