Each time you apply a transform to your data—whether suggested by the AI agent or prompted by the user—you have the option to save it to use again later.

These Saved Transforms accumulate in a playbook you can run each time you import data, drastically reducing time spent cleaning data.

Note: Transform—including Saved Transforms—is an add-on to the Flatfile Projects product. There may be an additional cost to enable it on your account. Reach out to success@flatfile.com if you’re interested in learning more.

Saved Transforms make every data onboarding project more efficient than the last. However, you should keep the following limitations in mind:

Saved Transforms FAQs

Why don’t I see this in my workbook?

Saved Transforms must be enabled in your account in order to see these options. Depending on your Flatfile contract, there may be an additional charge to access Transform features. Reach out to success@flatfile.com if you’re interested in using Inline Transform but do not see this in your account.

Why can't I find a transform in the Saved Transform library?

Only transforms you specifically save (by toggling this option on) will appear in your library. Applying a transform doesn't automatically save it for later.

Why is a particular Saved Transform grayed out?

Saved Transforms that will not affect any records in your sheet will appear grayed out.

How can I tell how many records will be impacted by running a Saved Transform?

You’ll see the count of impacted records listed below each Saved Transform.

Can I edit a Saved Transform?

No—once saved, transforms can't be modified. If you need a different version of the transform, you'll need to create a new one and save it separately.

How do I remove transforms I don't need anymore?

Open your Saved Transforms panel by clicking on the option in your toolbar menu. Find the transform you want to remove and click the delete icon that appears when you hover over a specific transform.

Can I use my Saved Transforms in other sheets?

If Saved Transforms are available in your other workbooks, sheets, or spaces within your app's environment, they'll be visible in your Saved Transform library and available for use. Note that the availability of Saved Transforms across your space depends on whether the sheet header schema matches that of the sheet the transform was initially applied to.
